I was watching a video course from Mark Thompson last Friday, called Project One, which is available to all members of his free community.

The first video concerns focusing all of your efforts on one imaginary person who represents your audience. Mark refers to this person as Steve. Everything he does is for Steve.

It was when he started to describe how he thought of Steve that I got a strange sense of deja vu. According to Mark, Steve has the following attributes:

He has been trying to master online marketing for more than 5 years
He has a job that he resents
He expected to be comfortable by now
He has tried everything online, but never enjoyed success
He never sticks to anything for long enough for it to be successful
He knows he should build a list, but how?
He knows he needs to focus
He works, so he has limited time available
His wife is always asking about his “internet thing”

Until a few months ago, that would have described me exactly, which is why I am convinced that Mark has been rummaging around inside my head. Perhaps I should change my name to Steve?

Being serious though, I am sure there are many people reading this who could identify themselves with Steve. Did you read that list and have the same reaction as me? Be honest now.
